A vapor, in the old-fashioned meaning of the term, refers to a state of emotional agitation or hysterical obsession. These three pieces are all studies of a unique, obsessive feeling or thought. Each piece handles its object of obsession in its own way: assimilating it into normalcy; leaving it raw and exposed like a live wire; or exhausting the expression to the point that it finally falls silent.
